Castel Malawi Limited is looking for a Tax Manager who will manage and ensure that all taxation practices and procedures conform to Castel Malawi Group tax policies and the relevant tax laws and regulations.
Minimum requirement: degree or equivalent with bias in accounting and business management
Professional qualification in CIMA or ACCA/CPA
7 to 10 years in taxation
Excellent knowledge of all tax functions
Strong understanding of business processes and accounting
Proficient in computer knowledge
Key responsibility areas include:
Design, document and implement as well as review systems in order to ensure full compliance with relevant tax legislation in respect of all applicable tax obligations including, but not limited to: Excise tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding tax (WHT), Import duties (customs, excise and import VAT), Pay as you earn (PAYE), Fringe Benefits tax (FBT), Capital gains tax, Nonresident tax (NRT), Dividend tax, Income taxes (including provisional taxes and final tax) and industrial levies
Review and approve ALL tax computations and returns before remittance of taxes to the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA)
Reconcile all related balance sheet accounts accurately and timely and ensure that all tax accounts are up to date
Compute income and deferred tax computations and any other tax provisions for month end, year-end, budgets, estimates and strategic plans.
Review year end and profit estimate tax computations and tax schedules in the reporting Packs for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with IFRS, tax laws and regulations and group reporting instructions
Ascertain the company’s annual income tax liability and make provisional and final tax payments in compliance with the Taxation Act
Manage relationships with the Tax Authorities
Key contact of all tax relationships with internal and external auditors, tax consultants and tax lawyers.
Promptly attend to all internal and external audit queries affecting the tax function and take remedial action on any findings
Liaise with other sections and departments on tax issues to ensure tax compliance on all initiatives and transactions.
